Be a Better Director

Video mash-ups may be very 2006 – but hey, it was 2006! When Ogilvy Interactive and Yahoo! teamed up for an interactive microsite to accompany their “Be a Better” campaign they came to 17FEET.

The goal was to use the footage from the TV spots to extend the campaign online in a more interesting way than just posting videos. The commercials were classic set-up and punch line gags that worked perfectly as a video mash-up. We built an editing interface allowing the user to pick a set-up and then add a punch line to create new “director’s cuts” of the commercials. A simple idea executed simply.

Bullet Proof

We built a custom Flash interface for the video interactions on a rapid production timeline – we’re not going to say how short it was. Although built quickly the interface really held up. From an ad placement on the home page of Yahoo! the site served up over 200,000 unique visits on it’s first day without even batting an eye.
